The Irish Warrior - Ashley York

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/26543479-the-irish-warrior---a-norman-conquest-novellaMs. York has done it again. This Novella is a wonderful addition to the Norman Conquest series her fans have come to adore. I enjoyed reading about Sean and Tommy (Thomasina) so much. This is an action packed, historical romance with just the right amount of hero, action and romance.

Tommy finds herself in quite the predicament. Her drunkard father has betrothed her to the worst kind of man, and her brother is doing what he can to save her. She disguises herself as a lad but when she stumbles upon our hero Sean, he sees her for the lass that she is. Sean is recovering from a case of unrequited love and meets Tommy just in time to save his heart. This is a fast paced story, but not rushed in any way. It delivers delightful side stories without bogging down the main theme. I could go on and on, but just check it out and see for yourself.

This is a definite must read. Completely entertaining and enjoyable!

The Essential Jagged Ivory - Lashell Collins

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22844023-the-essential-jagged-ivory
The Awesome thing about this series, is you can now read it in it's entirety. All five books, all in one volume! This is my favorite way to read a series, because I hate the waiting!

If you love Rock and Roll romance, then this series is definitely for you! I adored it. There are five books, and each book follows one of the members of Jagged Ivory, delivers up a good hearty romance, and swoon worthy heros. What more could you ask for? Noah, Cory, Benji, Buzzy, and Otis each have their own unique story.  One of the things I truly liked about this series is the common theme throughout of family loyalty and the bond that can't be broken. It also reminded me that sometimes family is not who is blood related to you, but the people in your life that are there by choice.  I certainly have my favorites (Noah and Benji), but I won't spoil the stories for you. If you like rockers, you'll love this series. I'll wait and let you tell me who your favorites are!

Try it out, I don't think you will be disappointed.
Happy Reading!

Accidentally Hers - Jamie Beck

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25239003-accidentally-hers
Accidentally Hers, by Jamie Beck is a story packed full of dynamic characters that tackles a serious subject in a unique and interesting way.

Grey Lowell moves to Colorado and puts all he has into a ski expedition company. Things are going well, until he is hit by a drunk driver. He goes to physical therapist Avery Randall. Who just happens to be the sister of the man who struck him down with his car.

As things heat up between Avery and Grey, the complications begin to mount and mount. After all, Avery is torn between her attraction to Grey and family loyalty to her brother. Grey is just trying to insure all that he has invested in his business is not lost.

Avery has a somewhat annoying personality, but she is also in an impossible situation. I love the "meet cute" in this story, before all heck breaks loose. Grey will certainly be on some book boyfriend list in the future. This character has all the perfect romance hero qualities.

Overall, I found this to be a very enjoyable read and I look forward to reading more books by this author.

Friction - Sawyer Bennett

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25530340-friction I keep seeing recommendations for books by Sawyer Bennett. In fact, I have several on my To Be Read list.  Yet until this book, I had not read a single one. WHAT is wrong with me? I will immediately start working through the other SB books on my list because if they are anything like Friction, I will not be disappointed.

This is the story of Leary Michaels and Reeve Holloway, two high powered attorneys. Leary is representing a family friend in a malpractice case against a surgeon. Reeve is the swoon worthy attorney defending the case.

I love the edgy, honest writing in this book. I had such a hard time putting it down. It's definitely one of those books that make you want to ignore everyone in your life and just keep reading. The chemistry in this book is amazing. I love that the heroine is a successful, confident professional.  I love that Reeve is an honorable man. I love that Leary had a strong female mentor. I love so so so many things about this book. I think it's safe to say, I Love this book!

With that said, I'm giving this one of my rare five star reviews, because I enjoyed it so much and thought about it for days after I finished reading.

Pick it up here and see for yourself. The book releases October 27th, 2015. Pre-order:  Buy it on amazon The best part is, this will be a Kindle Unlimited book!

This Love of Mine - Miranda Liasson

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25239323-this-love-of-mine This is book two in the Mirror Lake series by Miranda Liasson. Although this is book two, it certainly can stand on its own.

Meg is a devoted bridal shop owner who has had a crush on her brothers best friend for a long time. The problem is, her brother died in a tragic accident and Ben has always felt he was responsible for not being able to save him. This is a wonderfully developed story with dynamic characters. It is a beautifully written story of second chances. There was the commonly used theme of "pretend couple", but it is written in a way that is fresh and new. There are so many things working right in this story. Some sadness, romance, plenty of laughs and of course a happily ever after.

One of my favorite things lately in Romance novels is a strong grandmother character. The grandma in this book was so funny. I especially love that they included the cake recipe in the end. If you haven't read this, what are you waiting for?

It Had to Be Love - Tamra Bauman

25056781https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25056781-it-had-to-be-love It Had to Be Love  is book two in the It Had to Be series by Tamra Bauman. I liked the first book in this series so much, I was very excited when I was given the opportunity to read this second book.

Tara Carter is hiding from her past. She moved to Anderson Butte, Colorado to reclaim her life and start over. Sheriff Ryan Anderson knows she's hiding something, and although he doesn't usually date the women in town, he makes an exception for Tara.  She learns to trust again and he learns that happiness is sometimes right in front of us and we just fail to see it. There is a suspenseful plot, that you see coming but enjoy all the same. There are some cameo appearances from the characters we came to love in the first book, for me that was the Grandmother. This is a story that delivers well developed characters, an interesting story line, and of course a yummy Hero and a terrific HEA.

Wrong Number Right Guy - Elle Casey

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25335757-wrong-number-right-guy
Wrong Number Right Guy by Elle Casey is a laugh out loud hilarious book! Seriously, I caution you about reading this in public. I found my self incapable of not snickering while reading. May Wexler is a work for herself photographer who is devoted to her sister and her family. After a misdirected text lands her in a pickle, handsome security consultant Ozzie saves the day. Now I admit, May is a bit crazy and really a total hot mess. This did not make me want to stop reading, it encouraged me to keep going. Ozzie and May have pets that bond right away and it adds a little more humor to the story.

As a first book in  a series, the secondary characters were introduced to us in a way that makes me excited to see where their stories take us. If you are looking for a funny, quirky story that will have you literally laughing out loud, then this is definitely the book for you. It reminded me to relax and not take myself so serious. Reading should be fun, and this book has that in spades.

Ordinarily I would stop my review here, but I feel it is a disservice to those of you that are on the fence about reading this book. Below are few of my favorite by May Wexler quotes.

"Three months. That's all it'll take me to become a badass. Ka-chow, baby - look out!"

"No, I didn't say anything. Just reminding myself of some chores I have to do later." Namely, talk to a therapist because I'm crazy.

"I'm so afraid I'm going to toot; I have my butt cheeks squeezed together as tight as they'll go, and that leaves very little extra strength for lifting these twenty-pound weights up to my shoulders for the twelfth time. (This is exactly how I feel when I work out!)

"Crazy people, I find I kind of like crazy." Me too May, Me too.

This book comes out on September 22nd, pre-order it on amazon or check it out if you have kindle unlimited.

The Legacy of Copper Creek - R.C. Ryan

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23507714-the-legacy-of-copper-creek
Whit Mckenzie is a hard working Montana cowboy. He heads up to the hunting cabin for some alone time and finds Cara Walton. Cara is also in need of some solitude since she finds herself in some trouble. Whit is just the cowboy to help her out. The only thing that concerned me about this story is that Whit did not seem upset about finding a squatter in his cabin. Otherwise it is a delightful story about finding family and learning to love and trust again. This book offers the perfect mix of humor and angst with just the right amount of steam.

This is book three in the Copper Creek Cowboys Series. I left the cover centered this time, I mean look at that cowboy!

Making A Play - Victoria Denault

25366914Mark your calendars for September 8th because you will not want to miss this fabulous book! Making A Play, is the second book in the Hometown Players series.

Luc Richard is a yummy NHL player who finds himself all to often in the gossip paper spotlight. He's been told by management to cool it so he swears off women and goes back to his hometown of Silver Bay, Maine. There he is reunited with his childhood friend Rose Caplan. What he doesn't know is that Rose has been in love with him since she was a kid. She is tired of being the shy, sweet girl and decides to make a play for Luc once and for all. While her attention to Luc is not entirely unwanted it couldn't come at at worse time for him. This is a marvelously written story of unrequited love that finally gets its day. I enjoyed reading about some of the characters from the first book and learning about Rose and Luc. This is an incredibly sweet and sexy romance. I enjoyed it so much.

My only complaint is that we have to wait until December to get book three!

More, Please - Kate Aster

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25216178-more-please
More, Please, by Kate Aster, INDEED! What a lovely story. I enjoyed Allie and Logan so much. Logan is a yummy Navy Seal (Go Navy!) who is back in his hometown to aid in the care of his ailing father. Allie moved to the town her father grew up in to feel closer to him.

There was so much I loved about this story, Allie has put it all on the line to take care of the dogs she fosters. Logan is trying to make a life for himself outside of the military. This is a wonderful story! I enjoyed it so very much.

Excellent beach read as summer is quickly coming to a close.

Happy Reading.

Just in Time - Rosalind James

25758579This the 8th book in the Escape to New Zealand Series by Rosalind James, was Just In Time  to save me from a major reading slump! The thing I love the most about this authors writing is that you can always depend on her to present well developed characters with a story line that is robust and well thought out.

I have loved all the books in this series and this one is no exception. Will and Faith's story is captivating and I love that it begins in Las Vegas. Will is trying out for a US football team and Faith is a assistant to a local photographer. This is a witty and funny story. At first I feared this would be just another girlfriend for hire story, but it is so much more than that. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

I completely recommend checking this book and the rest of the series out!

Happy Reading!

The Perfect Bargain - Jessa McAdams

Writing as Jessa McAdams, Julia London has once again provided us with an enjoyable book!

The Perfect Bargain is a perfectly funny quick read. You have Sloane Chatfield who has flown to Scotland to find a man because of peer pressure. Galen Buchanan is a struggling bar owner who has the only WiFi connection in town. It's a familiar boyfriend for hire story, however, it's pretty funny at times. I wouldn't say any of the characters are very deep, but they are likeable. This is a cute, romantic read that will leave you with a smile on your face.

Starting Over - Stacy Finz

http://hamsterwheeljunction.blogspot.com/2015/06/reckless-priscilla-west.html
This is the fourth book in the Nugget series by Stacy Finz. I read the first book and really enjoyed it. I have not read books two and three but didn't really need to in order to love this story. I certainly will catch up with the two I missed because the people of Nugget are truly interesting characters!

This story centers around Nate and a New York City socialite named Sam. I loved Nate in the first book, I adore him in this book. He comes off like a jerk, but you can't help but believe there is more to him than that. Nate is still harboring some serious resentment about his ex-fiance Kate, running out on him before their wedding. Sam left her fiance on their wedding day and made headlines in the society pages. She  fills in at the inn while Maddy is on maternity leave. Nate treats her horrible, but soon finds that he can't fight the attraction he has to her.

This is a great addition to the series. I can't wait to finish the other books.

Reckless - Priscilla West

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22590615-reckless

ARGH!! A cliffhanger. I hate those, BUT I loved this book. Before I reached the disappointing end (I know, I did not research this thoroughly before starting it!) I thought to myself, this will easily be my favorite Priscilla West book ever! Riley and Jax are a smoking hot duo. Riley is a tour accountant, Jax is a Rock Star. Riley first meets Jax at an impromptu concert his band is playing. She doesn't get his name, doesn't know that he is the legendary lead singer of the band "Hitchcocks".  Jax is an amazing book boyfriend character, and I love that Riley is a hard working and intelligent female lead.  I enjoyed all of the characters and their interactions in this story. I truly feel this is the best book so far in the series. I can't wait to see how things work out for Riley and Jax in the conclusion Fearless

Montana Cherries - Kim Law

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/24965091-montana-cherries
This book is excellent! When an author attempts to tackle a serious issue, like mental illness, I am always curious to see how they will handle the balance of creating a fictional environment for a very real problem. I'm no expert but I feel Ms. Law did a fantastic job of combining reality with fiction. Dani Wilde grew up in a big family, that was hiding a big secret.

Ben Denton was not only her brother's best friend but someone who was very important to Dani. Life brings Ben back to town with his four year old daughter, just as Dani has planned to move to New York.

This is a wonderfully written story about reconciling with the past in order to obtain future happiness. The members of the Wilde family all have scars and this is an amazing story of success and failure in the quest to move forward. This is a truly touching story. I hope you check it out!

The Yellow Rose Beauty Shop - Carolyn Brown

24833790I am a fan of Carolyn Brown. So I was super excited when I saw she had a new novel. The Yellow Rose Beauty Shop is an incredibly quirky and funny story. This story is set in Texas, in the small town of Cadillac. Stella's mom is tired of waiting for her daughter to settle down so she decides to intervene and ask the man up stairs for some help by asking the prayer group to pray for her daughter to find a husband. What her mom doesn't know is that Stella is already secretly hitched! This is truly a laugh out loud funny and at times ridiculous story (and I mean that in the best way). There are some older ladies in this town that kept a smile on my face the entire time I read it. Truly this is a witty and funny book, that although had some similarities to another famous beauty shop story, definitely stands out on it's own!

Also, the good news is this book will be available to kindle unlimited subcribers when it is released on July 14th.

The Strongest Steel - Scarlett Cole

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25413371-the-strongest-steel

Wow. Super. Wow.

"Someday you're going to make your peace with this sweetheart. It'll be a painful step that shaped the incredible person that you are. You'll be proud of your own strength and determination, and you'll wish you had your own record of this very moment. When you changed the path you were on."

I know we are not supposed to quote ARCs but I just couldn't help myself. At this point in the book I knew I was completely hooked in. So I'm hoping it makes the final cut!

Harper Connelly and Trent Andrews have completely left me speechless. This is a poignant story about Harper, who survived a horrific attack and now carries scars, physically and emotionally. Trent Andrews is one of Miami's best tattoo artists. Harper had no idea he would not only cover up her physical scars, but help remove the emotional ones as well. This is an amazing story of learning to trust and love again. Ms. Cole did such a wonderful job of creating characters that are easy to relate to and totally believable.  I find it hard to believe this is a debut novel, and I am excited to see what she has in store for us in the second novel!

This Book releases on July 7th! It is available on amazon for pre-order now.

Simmering Ice - Veronica Forhand and Susan Scott Shelley

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25731738-simmering-ice

What an excellent Novella. I loved so so so many things about this beautiful story. First of all the hero is a hockey player, and really does it get any better than that? Although Alec has a tragic past, his first wife died from cancer, his and Annie's story is very heartwarming. Annie comes from a family of over achievers and her mother has done a wonderful job of making her feel like she doesn't measure up. Annie is a beautiful and successful physical therapist, but her self esteem has taken a hit, not only from her mothers constant pointing out of her shortcomings, but also from a disastrous failed relationship.  The character development in this book is wonderful, and although I haven't read the other books in the series I felt like I had a good understanding of the team dynamics and the other characters. Alec is the perfect alpha male and I really liked that Annie was a strong female character. Fiercely independent at times, despite her insecurities. Alec and Annie make a terrific couple. I enjoyed this novella so much. It's the perfect length for a day at the beach. Although the other books in this series seem to have been written by an array of different authors, I can't wait to read the rest!

Going Home - Stacy Finz

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25644501-going-home
What a great first book in a series. I enjoyed this story so much. Maddy moves to the town of Nugget after discovering her husband has been unfaithful. While renovating an old mansion into an inn, she meets Rhys, the police chief. He is only in town temporarily while he makes arrangements for his ailing father. There is so much going on in this story, there are criminals and busy bodies and a strong theme of family loyalty.  I think this is a great start for the series, I am excited to read the next! Book Four, Starting Over, doesn't release until August so I have plenty of time to get caught up!

Rules of Seduction - Joya Ryan

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25417189-rules-of-seduction

This is book 7 in the Serve series, and since I haven't read any of the others, I'm going to say that this novel is fine as a stand alone. There are some references to characters from previous stories but I didn't feel like I was missing anything.

I really didn't have a lot of expectations about this book when I started it. The story takes place mainly in a sex club, so I thought to myself, "don't get your hopes up". However, I am delighted to say there is much more to it than that! Ava is a divorced woman who escaped from a horrible marriage but is definitely scarred by the whole ordeal. Noah is the manager at an exclusive sex club and helps facilitate the customers desires. Ava wants anonymous sex and Noah decides to be the one he sets her up with. Of course Ava and Noah establish a friendship and unbeknownst to Ava also a sexual relationship. She calls Noah "Myth" during her scenes, but it takes her a while to figure out that they are one in the same.  This is an easy read with plenty of steam and a happily ever after!

Opening Up - Lauren Dane

23119319

I've gotten a lot of first books in a series lately. I usually despise this because I have a terrible memory and by the time the next book comes out I find myself struggling to remember what the first book was about. I don't think that will be the case with this, the first book in the Ink and Chrome series. Opening Up is a wonderful love story. There's plenty of family drama in this story, but also hot biker dudes with piercings and tattoos.  What I liked the most about it is that Asa and PJ had each others backs. Sure they had some misunderstandings, sure there was some resistance on Asa's part in the beginning, but when it really counted they were a solid team. This story just works. There is plenty of romance and a whole bunch of hot and steamy sexy times in this novel. I enjoyed every second of it. It is a dynamic very tastefully written book with relatable characters and a story line that is easy to follow.

The good news is this book is out on June 16th and according to Goodreads we only have to wait until August for Duke and Carmella's story!

Happy Reading!

Deep - Kylie Scott

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18461986-deep

To me romance writers are like ice cream. There are lots of different brands of ice cream, they all make their version of rocky road. But I have a favorite brand that makes it better than any other, there is no convincing me otherwise. I might try the other brands from time to time, but nothing beats my favorite. Kylie Scott is that to me for romance novel writers. I love lots of books, but she has a way of presenting the characters and story line that makes you feel like you are a part of the story. She's found the perfect recipe. I didn't think it was possible for me to love a book more than I loved Lead,  but I do. I so do!

The story of Ben and Liz is amazing. I enjoyed their story so much and Ben has easily become my favorite member of the band. This story was heartbreaking at times, funny, and the perfect amount of steamy. Starting out as the one night of passion leads to a baby storyline, this book evolved into a wonderful tale of trust and just putting yourself out there. I was truly a bit sad when it ended. This was the perfect wrap up to a wonderful series. If you haven't read it, then you are missing out!

As you might have figured out, I don't give many 5 stars, but this one made the list!

Sweet as Sin - J.T. Geissinger

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/24933557-sweet-as-sin

I just finished this book and I am trying to decide what to focus on in a review. Nico is a alpha rocker who meets Kat the Hollywood makeup artist at a video shoot. The result is a very tumultuous relationship. Nico is possessive and demanding and Kat is independent and stubborn.  Nico and Kat have plenty of deep dark secrets in their past. Overall I enjoyed the book and the characters but I am not giddy with excitement over this particular couple. I actually found the story-lines of the supporting characters more interesting. For instance, Grace is an amazing character. I hope there will be a future book in the series that focuses on her. I also think the AJ and Chloe story line could be a good read. Overall I enjoyed this book. I will read future books in this series.

One More Shot - Victoria Denault

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25163020-one-more-shot

This is the first novel in the Hometown Players series by Victoria Denault. This is a very sweet romance about misunderstandings and second chances. Jessie and Jordan were best friends since third grade who developed a relationship in their teens. After a misunderstanding Jessie flees to Arizona for college and Jordan is drafted by the NHL. The two are reunited six years later at a funeral. I usually don't like flashback books, I am more of the here and now kind of girl, but Ms. Denault does a wonderful job of transitioning from present day to the past. There were all kinds of factors involved in Jessie and Jordan being separated for so long, obviously misunderstanding but family involvement did not help them out either.  There was just enough drama to keep the story interesting but not too much that you felt overwhelmed. Overall I found this to be a enjoyable book.

One More Shot is an excellent start of what could potentially be a terrific romance series. I look forward to the rest of the series.

Ash to Steele - Karen-Anne Stewart

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/20745033-ash-to-steele

There are lots of themes in this book that I absolutely adore. First, we have the family is not always defined by blood theme. Breck, Jess, Gavin and Emma have a family they made for themselves. I enjoyed their story line very much! There is also the preacher daughter meets bad boy theme that is heart warming and smoking hot. Although there is a religious theme in this book, I wouldn't say it's a religious book. There is an element of life contradicting faith. I found it very well done.

This book has plenty of angst and secrets but above all it has love. The love the characters finally embrace. This book is very engaging and I found myself completely sucked in to the story. This book had many different plot twists, and Mrs. Stewart did an excellent job of engaging the reader the entire time.

Books, Blogs, and Reality - Ryan Ringbloom

A book about bloggers! This book follows the lives of four online friends and book bloggers, Brooke, Rachel, Lizzie and Jess. Each character has their own story, Brooke has the office romance; Rachel aims to spice up her relationship; Lizzie is married to her high school sweetheart; and Jess has her eyes set on the bad boy she thinks she can save. All popular romance novel themes, but this time reality takes over.

The characters in this book are very likeable and the storyline is fresh and easy to follow. It perfectly illustrates what happens when you get caught up in the fantasy of novel. It's also showcases perfectly online relationships, it is so much easier sometimes to type to a complete stranger things you would have a hard time telling anyone to their face, but there is no way to tell for sure who is on the other side. I thought Lizzie's storyline did a wonderful job illustrating this point. This is a well written, witty and humorous look at the world of Romance readers and bloggers. A must read!

The Mad Tatter - J.M. Darhower

Reece Hatfield is an artist, a dad, a felon. He's got a lot on his plate, so when ballerina Avery Moore shows up at the tattoo shop he works at he's totally not looking for love. But that's the funny thing about love, sometimes it finds you when you least expect it. I liked this book so much. It's a classic story of attraction and working out life while trying to build a relationship. It's not real angsty, people make mistakes and work to do better. I enjoyed Lexi and the interactions with Reece. It's happy and steamy and most of all it has a HEA, and we all know that is definitely a requirement for me!  This should definitely be on your summer read list.

The Consequence of Revenge - Rachel Van Dyken

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23381456-the-consequence-of-revenge
Snakes and lizards and goats, oh my! This is book two in the Consequence series. Once again Ms. Van Dyken gives us a completely hilarious story! I will admit that going into this, I was one of the rare people who didn't really like Max's character in the previous story, just too completely ridiculous. Somehow though in this book I found him to be endearing and I enjoyed the dating show story line very much. The gang is reunited in this book and their shenanigans kept me laughing. Max and Becca make a great pair and I love how this story focuses on friendship and romance. The best thing about this book is that it's a fun read, and when you get to the last page, you are left with a smile on your face.

This book will release on June 9th.

Swept Away - J. S. Cooper

https://www.goodreads.com/series/136231-swept-away

The Swept Away Series by J.S. Cooper...  Illusion and Disillusioned are full length novels that follow the story line. Charade is a Novella about Bianca and her interaction with David. Masquerade is a Novella about Jakob. Resolution will not be released until December! DECEMBER!

Disillusioned had such a cliff hanger ending, when I picked up Masquerade I could not believe I had to read back story when I am just dying to know how all this madness ends! Let me break it down into the most elementary summary I can come up with, Bianca and Jakob had some screwed up parents. The lies and deception of the parents have infiltrated their children's lives. Everyone is lying and scheming and it's hard to tell which way is up. I found myself thinking, "oh I know what happened," and then, "NO!" that's not what happened at all. There is so much going on in this story I'm not sure how I could even explain it to anyone. There is a smoking hot romance going on between Bianca and Jakob despite all the craziness going on around them. I generally stay away from a series that is not complete, because I am very impatient. I love this series, I hate it has a cliffhanger.

I received Masquerade from Netgalley for an honest review. I will say I found this novella interesting because it explains more about the Board Meeting and interaction that Jakob and Bianca had before they were kidnapped. It also fills in some wholes about the kidnapping itself. It's not completely necessary to read the Novellas in my opinion but they do provide some information that is not provided in the main books (or maybe I am just disgruntled because I sooo want to read Resolution!)

Be assured that I have December 1st marked on my calendar! Can't wait to read the conclusion of this series.

It's been seven days!

I can't believe I haven't blogged in a whole week. It's been busy around here. I promise that I have been reading. I am currently reading the entire Swept Away series by J. S. Cooper. I hope to have a review for you by the end of the week. Since the series is a continuation from one book to the next I thought I would just review the entire series. So far I am really enjoying it. Can't wait to give you a full review!

Meanwhile, don't forget that Letting Go by Jessica Ruddick comes out on the 26th. Check out my review here.

Happy Reading!

All Played Out - Cora Carmack

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22249707-all-played-out
I always struggle when I review Ms. Carmack's books. I struggle to portray some semblance of an intelligent  person who can put together a review without crazy fan girling on the author. I realize I'm a few years past the target audience for New Adult Fiction. Okay, let's be honest I'm way closer to 40 than I am 30, (according to Wikipedia the target audience for this Genre is 18-30) but I just adore these books soooo much. I find it hard not insert a squee or a woo hoo here or there. In fact I was enjoying this book so much, when I got to the Epilogue I put it down and did some house cleaning just so the story wouldn't be over! I was so sad to see it end. Alright, now that all of that has been said, deep breath. Let me tell you about this story.

All Played Out follows the story of Nell and Mateo (who we know as Torres). Nell is a Rusk University senior about to graduate and realizes she hasn't fully lived the college experience because of her intense focus on her studies. She makes a to-do list of things she wants to accomplish socially before graduation. Mateo is more than willing to help her out with her list and even gives her some interesting list suggestions. This is a witty and charming story of living life to it's fullest. This book is incredibly entertaining, serious when it needs to be, steamy in spots, and just an overall fantastic read. In my January review of All Broke Down I said I loved loved loved it. Well, I loved this one even more. Once again Ms. Carmack has given us a well developed story with loveable characters. Although I anticipate it to be a completely emotional read, I can't wait to read Stella's story.

I was originally going to include a quote or two from the book, but when I looked back I had bookmarked so many things I couldn't choose just a few without practically quoting the whole book and I have already surpassed my normally short and sweet review criteria. I will close with this, add this book to your to-read list, you won't be sorry.

The Consequence of Loving Colton - Rachel Van Dyken

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23381448-the-consequence-of-loving-colton

This is a delightful, ridiculously funny and endearing book! Milo and Colton had me in stitches. The best friend Max and his brother Reid were completely hilarious. The main story here is Milo is in love with her brothers best friend, Colton. They are all together for Jason's wedding weekend. This story took a hilarious turn as they all plot to stop said wedding.  Before reading this book I was already a fan of Rachel Van Dyken, I have upped that to complete and utter devotion! This hilarious story will put a smile on your face.

Caught Up in You - Kim Boykin

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25354395-caught-up-in-you

This adorable story takes place in Magnolia Bay. The scenic descriptions in this book made me feel like I was out there on the boat with them. I enjoyed the character interaction and the storyline of this book. Shelby has had a crush on Declan since high school and through college. He's now a successful artist who has come home to tend to his ailing and grumpy father. The only thing I wish was different was the ending, now don't get me wrong, there's a happily ever after. However, it is implied. I wish the epilogue would have been their wedding day instead of their engagement (spoiler). Especially since Declan had a track record of making to the engagement but not down the isle. Of course we know that Shelby is the one, so I guess I'm just being a picky reader at this point. In any case this is a sweet story and a quick read. Overall I enjoyed it immensely.

Cinderella's Cowboy - Roxanne Snopek

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25440933-cinderella-s-cowboy

I did not realize this was book 4 in the This Old House series when I started reading it. It became evident I was missing some back story, but it did not necessarily take away from Cynthia and Chad's story. If anything is made me curious about the other books in this series. With that said, this is a delightful and charming quick read. Cynthia is a determined and hard working woman who has, like most of us, a few insecurities. Chad is a hard working cowboy who at times feels like he is living in his Rodeo Superstar brother's shadow. I love how it all came together in the end. This is a fun light read, a perfect addition to your summer read list.

Bachelorette for Sale - Gail Chianese

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25216217-bachelorette-for-sale

Cherry Ryan and Jason Valentine are the most adorable book couple. Cherry is a former dating reality star who was looking for love in all the wrong places. Jason is a construction company owner who has sworn off love. Together they make a wonderful pair. This is a delightful, easy read that had me laughing to myself. I enjoyed the characters and their families very much. This is another book with a strong grandmother who kept me smiling, in fact I loved the grandparents story in this book almost as much as the main characters. This is a debut novel for Mrs. Chianese and I am very excited to read more of her work with Tawny and Davids story.

There was so much I liked about this book, but below is a quote from Cherry after Jason asks her to move in with him. I love that she is not willing to bend her expectations.

"For me, that piece of paper is a promise. It's a promise you know your heart and mean it when you say you want to spend the rest of your life with me. It's a promise that when the going gets tough, you'll stay and fight for me, for us. Your offer is tempting. But I'm looking for someone who can say to me that he wants to wake up next to me for the rest of his life and that I'm worth slaying the dragons of life over, no matter how difficult they may be to defeat. Can you say that? Can you make that promise to me?"

Letting Go - Jessica Ruddick

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23302058-letting-go?from_search=true&search_exp_group=group_a&search_version=service

There are so many things I could say about this book. It is tastefully written, heartfelt, touching, a beautiful story of healing and living. I found myself completely sucked in to this story. Cori is a college student whose boyfriend died in a car wreck. She later finds out that he committed suicide. Luke is also a college student and meets Cori at a fraternity party. He is the epitome of the perfect book boyfriend. Kind and caring and patient.

One of my favorite lines in the book was this one:

"I still had a lot of crap going wrong in my life, like lack of tuition and a dead boyfriend, but for tonight, I was allowing myself to be happy." - Cori

Cori is reflecting on the advice her counselor gave her. It's so true that happiness is a choice. Anyone who has been through adversity will attest to that. Ms. Ruddick did a wonderful job illustrating this concept in her story.

I highly recommend this book! It's due out May 26th!

From Scratch - Rachel Goodman

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/24365380-from-scratch

This is a fun and easy read. Lillie and Nick have not seen each other in 5 years after a really bad ending. So there is an element of betrayal and angst, but it does not overshadow the sweetness of this book. It's a wonderful tale of self discovery and finding what you really want in life. I enjoyed the character interactions and storyline so much. It's a feel good story that will keep you interested and engaged.

A great debut novel for Rachel Goodman, due out July 20th Preorder today!

Crave - Jennifer Dawson

Crave is the first book in the Undone series by Jennifer Dawson. Layla tragically lost her fiance three weeks before the wedding. Although this is an Erotic story, there are so many other things going on I found myself completely captivated.

"Someday" I say my voice cracking "I'm going to ask you if you think eighteen months is a long time, and we'll see what your answer is"

This is a story of healing, finding your way after something so horrific has happened to you. Living with the memories, guilt and pain. Although Layla has a supportive family, since her fiance was murdered the submissive part of her personality is floundering. The peace John brought to her life feels irreplaceable. Now enters the scene, Michael, the perfect Alpha male boyfriend. When he was first introduced in the story as a homicide detective, I feared that it would come out that he was there the night John was murdered, fortunately the author did not go there. Michael is everything that has been missing for Layla, and although their relationship seemed volatile at times, they just work as a couple. This story has everything, steam, angst, mystery, misunderstanding, and a happily ever after.

The challenge with a first book in a series, is that the author has to engage the reader enough that they will want to read the next book. Ms. Dawson did just that. I am anxious to read Leo and Jillian's story in Sinful.

Waiting for the One - L.A. Fiore

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23733234-waiting-for-the-one

Welcome to Maine! This is an adorably quirky story about Saffron and Logan. I was laughing out loud at parts and found the characters to be very likeable. Logan is an artist trying to lay low from the spotlight who meets Saffron the small town girl looking for love. Although the theme is familiar I found this story refreshing and funny. The end did seem to be a little Soap Opera "esque" for me but, this is fiction and well anything can happen right? There is so much going on in this story, stalkers, bad parents, good parents, loss of a loved one and much more. Somehow it all works. I especially love the festivals in this book, and I find myself smiling when I think of the swordfish fight or the seaweed queen. There are a few heart wrenching spots in the story, but overall this is a fun and entertaining book and just wicked good.

I have discovered so many authors in the last few months. I look forward to reading other works by Ms. Fiore.

Announcement - Cora Carmack

HERE’S THE SCOOP!

Fans of Cora Carmack’s Rusk University, we have a SUPER exciting announcement:

  ALL CLOSED OFF Coming 2016

ALL CLOSED OFF, Book 4 in the Rusk University Series, is coming!!!

Check out this message from Cora!

*WARNING: This letter contains spoilers for All Broke Down. If you haven't yet read that book, read at your own peril. SECOND WARNING: this letter talks about fictional characters as if they are real people. Sorry I'm not sorry. THIRD WARNING: The letter below broaches a serious topic that could be a trigger for some people*

Hello beloved readers! The first person who read one of my Rusk University books was my older sister. I gave her All Lined Up when I finished, and her first question was "Are Ryan and Stella going to be together?" At the time, I told her no. I had plans for both of them that included their own storylines. I thought they were too much alike. They'd make great friends. They might even hook-up, but in the end... I couldn't envision anything serious for them. So I actually rewrote some of their scenes trying to make that aspect of their connection more obvious. And still, when All Lined Up released, amidst the chatter about sweet Carson and sassy Dallas, I had people asking if Stella and Ryan were next. I denied it again (and again and again). But sometimes in writing, the stars align and a character will become bigger and more real than you could have possibly imagined. It's a wonderful experience, but in Stella's case it was also incredibly heartbreaking. While I was writing All Broke Down, the news was inundated with information about the Steubenville rape trial and other tragedies and injustices like it. Tragedies where women have been violated first by an attacker, then by judgmental and hateful people, and finally by a justice system that repeatedly fails survivors of sexual assault. Having grown up in Texas, where too often football stars are treated like gods and can get away with just about anything, it hit particularly close to home. And since All Broke Down featured a passionate activist heroine, I felt compelled to reference this chronic dark underbelly of elite sports. I can remember vividly sitting on my couch, brainstorming how I would incorporate such an event into the book. I had thought the assault would happen to an unknown character, and maybe I would focus on the way it divided the team and the school and the town. But like I said... Sometimes a character will become bigger and more human than I anticipated. And it sounds crazy, but in my mind, I felt Stella push her way forward and say, "Mine. This is my story." I immediately began to cry. Sob, really. Because I loved her as a character. She was hilarious and strong and didn't take crap from anyone. She was everything I always hope to be. And I didn't want her to go through that. Even as I cried, my brain began to tell me that it made sense. Stella was vibrant and enjoyed a wild party. She was not afraid of her sexuality, and she had no problem with casual sex. She was the kind of girl that probably had a reputation. The kind of girl who could be heinously and violently taken advantage of, and people would STILL blame her. Because she was in the wrong place, wearing the wrong clothes, behaving in the wrong way. But just because it COULD happen to her, didn't mean I wanted it to. But once again, Stella was there in my head saying, "Someone needs to tell this story. And I'm strong enough to do it. Let me." And when Stella chose her story, she also chose the man I'd been adamant wasn't right for her. Because as it turns out... Those two characters who I thought were too alike aren't so alike anymore. And Stella needs Ryan to help her hold on to that vibrant and strong girl she was before. So I let go of all the plans I had for her, and allowed her to tell me her story, which is about more than just sexual assault. It's about the aftermath. Depression. Shame. Guilt. Anger. Injustice. Victim-blaming. Slut-shaming. It's about the way that kind of event can change everything-- how you relate to people, how you think, how you dream, how you love. It's about the way the rest of the world moves on to the next big tragedy, and you're still left holding the broken pieces of who you used to be, with no idea how to put them together again or even if you want to. It will be the most difficult story I ever tell. And the most important. Because it’s a story that belongs not just to Stella, but to millions of people around the world. It’s a story that belongs to a new person every 107 seconds*. And that’s just in the United States. Think about that for a moment. 107 seconds. Stella’s story won’t be any easier to read than it will be to write. But I hope you’ll help me drag this story into the light. So now I’ll step off my soapbox and just tell you about the book… ALL CLOSED OFF: Stella Santos is fine. Maybe something terrible happened to her that she can’t even remember. And maybe it drives her crazy when her friends treat her like she’s on the verge of breaking because of it. Maybe it feels even worse when they do what she asks and pretend that it never happened at all. And maybe she’s been getting harassing emails and messages for months from people who don’t even know her, but hate her all the same. But none of that matters because she’s just fine. For Ryan Blake, Stella was always that girl. Vibrant and hilarious and beautiful. He wanted her as his best friend. His more than friends. His everything and anything that she would give him. Which these days is a whole lot of nothing. She gets angry when he’s there. Angry when he’s not there. Angry when he tries to talk and when he doesn’t. When Stella devises an unconventional art project for one of her classes all about exploring intimacy—between both friends and strangers—Ryan finds himself stepping in as guinea pig after one of her subjects bails. What was supposed to be an objective and artistic look at emotion and secrets and sex suddenly becomes much more personal. When he hits it off with another girl from the project, Stella will have to decide if she’s willing to do more than make art about intimacy. To keep him, she’ll have to open up and let herself be the one thing she swore she’d never be again. Vulnerable. ***** ALL CLOSED OFF will be releasing sometime in early 2016. I don't have a date yet for several reasons. The first and most important, is that I want to do this story justice. And as such, I have no intentions of rushing the process. Secondly, I'll be returning to indie publishing for the remainder of the Rusk series. As you can probably tell, this story means a great deal to me. And by having the ultimate control over everything from timing to editing to price, I'll be able to ensure that I'm able to create exactly the story I envision. Unfortunately, that means you won't be seeing the paperback of ALL CLOSED OFF on the shelves in most stores. Nor is it currently available for pre-order. But I hope you'll add the book on goodreads, follow me on social media, and/or join my newsletter. I promise to shout it all over the place when I have a set release date or pre-order links. Thank you for listening as I told you the evolution of Stella's story. When it's finished, I hope you will feel as passionately about it as I do. All my best, Cora Carmack   *Statistic from RAINN (Rape, Abuse, Incest National Network)

And an opportunity to add your voice to Stella’s…

Stella’s experience is only one story of many. She was with someone she trusted when it happened, and the only memories she has are pieced together from her own blurred recollections and the things people have told her. Not everyone’s experience with sexual assault is the same. Each person reacts, copes, and overcomes differently. And while this book is about one specific character’s journey, I would like to tell as many sides of this story as possible. As Stella grapples with her thoughts and emotions she’ll be searching for advice, for comfort, for a place where people understand her and can identify with what she’s experiencing. There will be room for truth within the fiction, and if you’d like that truth to be yours, this is your chance. If you have a story like Stella’s, and you want your voice to be heard…. If there’s something you wish more people understood about what you’ve gone through…. If there’s something you’d like to tell people struggling with a story like yours… I’d like to give you the opportunity to add your voice to Stella’s. Use the hashtag #WhenItHappened and let your voice be heard on your own by posting on your own social media, or if you’d rather I share your words fill out this google document and tell me your story. You can fill out this form anonymously or not. I’d like to begin this discussion now because April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. But my hope is to include as many stories as possible within the book itself. So many have stories of #WhenItHappened. Your voice and your story deserve to be heard. I’m listening. #WhenItHappened Google Form: http://goo.gl/forms/4VRjWgZYSW   Headshot

Rank - D. R. Graham

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25069554-rank

I'm on a role with cowboy love stories. This is a wonderful book. Shae and Billy are dynamic characters. I love so much about this story. It is refreshing to read a romance novel that is just that, pure romance. It's sweet and endearing and just good clean fun. Don't get me wrong, this story has some angst, and bad guys, and schemers, but it's just the right amount.  This is a terrific New Adult novel that perfectly illustrates family bonds and loyalty. It's a funny and witty story that although touches on some serious stuff, is so tastefully done. This book has cowboys, cowgirls and the rodeo, what more do you need?

In a world where the book series seems to be the new trendy thing to do, I find myself wishing this was not a standalone novel, would love so much to read Cole's story.

*On a side note, I have 767 books on my Goodreads - Read list. I have only 44 - five star ratings. This book makes 45. I loved it so much.
