Sugar Daddy - Sawyer Bennett

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25573737-sugar-daddy
So I wrote the below review just minutes after I finished this book last month. I thought, well it's a bit rough so I'll edit it before I actually post it. I have changed my mind, I think I am going to keep it just as it is. If you read this book you will understand my burst of emotion in this review. I really don't find many books I rate 5 stars but somehow this author manages to get them out of me!

Have you ever finished a book, and the curse words swimming through your head would kill someone dead if ever muttered out loud? Well be warned, this is one of those curse inducing cliff hanger endings that will have you singing the authors accolades while you simultaneously wish horrible things on her. I love you but I hate you Sawyer Bennett.

This emotion inducing story features Sela, who survives something completely horrible on her sixteenth birthday and works her way forward in life just trying to put the pieces back together. A life derailed by a revenge plot that is complicated by the incredibly handsome and powerful Beck, who gave her hope, but is it enough?

Reading this you kind of know what is going to happen, but you wish it wouldn't. But then it does, and I found myself just hoping that it isn't really what happened, but it is. Does this make any sense?

Once again Ms. Bennett has delivered a story with characters you love and hate. Characters you root for and those you wish would trip on something sharp. I am completely bummed that I have to wait six months for the next installment of this story. I was truly not ready for it to be over.

Well done, well done.

Something More Than This - Barbie Bohrman

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/20849958-something-more-than-this
This is a very witty, romantic read from Barbie Bohrman. I found it at times to be laugh out loud funny, and pretty delightful.

Katy Lewis is a sports reporter whose Best Friend Dylan is her boss. I love her female best friend Mimi, who I found at times balanced out the story line of Katy's indecision between the love of the present (Dylan) and the love of her past (Connor). Mimi provided some much needed comic relief and I very much enjoyed her character. Also, the dynamic between Katy and her brothers was refreshing and heartwarming.

Connor was the boy who broke her heart, and when he returns to her life, Katy must make a crucial life choice. This story was light on angst, but provided just enough to make the story interesting. The dialogue between characters was fantastic and I especially loved the ending.

Once again Barbie Bohrman has given us an enjoyable read!

On The Rocks - Kim Law

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/26102496-on-the-rocks
On The Rocks is the third book in the Turtle Island series. Now I haven't read any of the other books in this series, so I honestly don't know if I'm missing anything. I will tell you there is mention of characters from previous books but it doesn't seem to hinder this story. With that said, I truly found this book enjoyable!

Ginger and Carter were very close friends in high school. Carter moved away, married and has now returned to Turtle Island when what he thought was the perfect life, turned out to not be so perfect. In fact it turned out to be pretty disastrous.

Ginger has stayed on the island and taken over her fathers boating business. I love that Ginger is a tom boy, and is able to take care of herself. She's at an impasse in life and tired of waiting for Mr. Right, but hoping that he's out there somewhere.

There's a lot of common ground between these two characters. I found it to be a very compelling, entertaining story and stayed interested the entire time. I will definitely check out some of the other books in this series.

The Final Move - Victoria Denault

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25366926-the-final-move
I've been waiting and waiting for this book to come out. So I did squee out loud when I saw it on my NetGalley shelf. When you love a series this much and have to wait for the next book, expectations have had time to grow and grow and grow. Sometimes this causes a book to fall short, however, that is NOT the case with this book!

I just adore this series. It's got everything, hot hockey players, well developed story lines and characters that touch your heart in the most amazing ways.

Devin and Callie had a brief sexual encounter several years prior to being reunited in this story.  Devin is separated from his wife and taking care of his young son. Callie is a self proclaimed commitment-phobe who is exactly what Devin needs. There are so many things I would love to say about this story line, but I don't want to give anything to away!

I love that Devin exhibits a sensitive side, and although it's incredibly hard for him to admit failure, I enjoyed him as a character that realized his flaws. Add into the mix independent and responsible Callie, and it made for a really interesting and engaging read.

I highly recommend this series, I personally am anxious for more!

The Fractured Heart - Scarlett Cole

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/27242735-the-fractured-heart
The Fractured Heart is the second book of the Second Circle Tattoos series.  I will start by saying that I loved, loved, loved the first book. This one, well I liked it an awful lot.

This story is of Cujo and Drea. As the best friends to Trent and Harper they are working together to throw their pals and engagement party. Now Cujo and Drea haven't necessarily gotten along in the past and there's all sorts of back and forth with the party planning. I do love Cujo's character though and although at times I found Drea a little annoying, her character quirks were also endearing at times.

A bonus in this story is the suspense thrown in with Drea witnessing an abduction, which added another layer to the story that I found rather intriguing.

Overall I found this book enjoyable! Check it out today!

Happy New Year!

As you can see, I took the entire month of December off. This was not by design, but rather it just sort of worked out that way! So far this year has not turned out as I hoped, I did not win the power ball, and I have not had copious amounts of time to blog! Here's hoping things will turn around soon :)

I might not have been blogging, but I was certainly reading. I have lots of reviews in store for the next few weeks. I managed a mere 66 posts last year so I have decided to challenge myself and see if I can at least do 75 this year!

As always, I am thankful for each and everyone of you that take the time to read my blog (all four of you!). I am also grateful for the wonderful authors that keep churning out books so that I'll have something to blog about! (I know this is the only reason they are still writing, right?)

In any case, happy 2016 to you all and happy reading!
