Jessica Sorensen is one of my favorite authors. I was elated when I received Nova and Quinton - No Regrets from Netgalley. I have re-read Breaking Nova and Saving Quinton, now I'm all ready to review this book!
A beautifully written story of the struggle of addiction, loss, guilt, recovery, and hope for the future. There are so many things I love about Nova and Quinton's story. I love that they learn to be there for each other, and to be patient with themselves. I love that they learned to lean on one another to get through the hard times. I love that their story wasn't rushed, and that they didn't force their relationship to evolve before it was time. Mrs. Sorensen captured the essence of relationship building after recovering from an addiction, she did such a wonderful job illustrating the triumphs and set backs. I was so moved by this story. Moving on from great loss is one of life's biggest struggles, the guilt involved in living, the pain of wondering if you could have done something differently and avoided the terrible outcome. All of these things are perfectly captured in this story. It's raw and real, angsty and triumphant, it's what Mrs. Sorensen does best.
To me great fiction, is when you read the story and feel a connection to the characters so strong that you almost convince yourself the story is true. Although the characters are fiction, the storyline is so real. This is a tastefully written series. I'll need a little break to recover, but I totally plan on reading the other books in this series.
I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
